Soothe Gum Pain Caused by Gum Disease with a Visit to Craig Glick DDS

Are you suffering from painful, sensitive or swollen gums? Do your gums bleed when you floss or brush? If so, you probably have gum disease. Because uncontrolled gum disease is not only painful but also contributes to serious oral health problems such as tooth loss, getting your gum disease treated promptly is imperative. By visiting Dr. Glick, you can take an important first step towards this goal. Dr. Glick will provide a thorough assessment of your gums and recommend a course of action. Minor cases of gum disease can often be cleared up by improving your oral hygiene or using an antibacterial mouth rinse. For more severe cases, Dr. Glick may recommend seeing a specialist who can provide surgical treatments to reattach gums to teeth and correct receding gums. The best way to find out what level of treatment you need is to schedule an appointment today.

No More Bleeding Gums

“Sometimes my gums would bleed when I flossed, but because it mostly happened between the same two teeth I didn’t really pay much attention. My gums didn’t hurt so I figured they were fine. But as I got older I started to realize that if I wanted to keep my teeth I needed to pay more attention and not ignore problems like bleeding gums. Dr. Glick told me that I did have gingivitis and it was on the verge of becoming a more serious condition called periodontitis. In other words I was at risk for losing my tooth! I really appreciated that he explained this to me and I’m happy to report that after following all his advice my gums don’t bleed anymore!”

What is Gum Disease?

There are actually two types of gum disease: gingivitis and periodontitis. Both forms of gum disease are caused by bacteria lingering along the gum line and can be exacerbated by the failure to brush and floss your teeth regularly as recommended by your dentist in Encino. Gingivitis is relatively common and typically causes irritation and inflammation of the gums. If left untreated, gingivitis can turn into periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory condition that can quickly lead to serious dental problems such as tooth loss. If you have poor oral hygiene, are a smoker or have diabetes, you may be at increased risk for gum disease. We encourage you to visit our office regularly to keep on top of your oral health and prevent gum disease from ruining your smile. Dr. Glick is the best. He's been my dentist for about ten years and is highly skilled and proactive in his approach. I only recently got dental insurance, but even before, his prices were always reasonable for cleanings and the one time an old sealant needed replacing. They only do x-rays when appropriate and have never billed me for anything that was unnecessary. His office staff is friendly and the hygienists are extremely competent. Trust is such a key when finding care, and I'm lucky to have found such a good dentist. Needless to say, I would highly recommend.

...We got there and filled out paperwork, etc, and then my boyfriend was taken in. He said that he really liked Craig and that he was very helpful and nice. My boyfriend gets very anxious about these kinds of situations, so for him to say that he was okay and not freaking out is a good sign. It turns out he had an infection and needed his tooth pulled, so they did that right after. The whole thing was really quick and they got the job done fast. Our appointment was at 8:30am and I think we left at something like 9:30am...
